The Kroger Co. has issued a recall for certain pet foods, due to potential contamination with aflatoxin, a mold toxin.   Signs of illness can include lethargy, appetite loss, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and jaundice (a yellowish tint to the skin, eyes and gums). A farm cat in Murray County tested positive for rabies this month, after it attacked the family’s teenaged daughter, several neighbors, and the family dog.  Three people are undertaking post-rabies-exposure prophylaxis and the dogs are under quarrantine.  This brings the state 2010 yearly rabies total up to 57 (7 cats, 3 dogs, 4 cows, 20 bats 23 skunks).
